Job Search Tools Worth Putting in a Staff Toolkit

Job search chaos is a coaching problem, not a personality flaw. When clients cannot remember what they applied to, they duplicate work, miss follow-ups, and lose confidence.

Two categories of tools are worth putting in a staff toolkit:

Application tracking. A tracker (Huntr is one option; many programs now keep this inside their own platform) lets a client save postings, note the date applied, and record the next step. If your organization already has a tracker, use that first so staff can see the same pipeline the client sees.

Posting match. Tools like Jobscan compare resume language to a specific posting. Use them as a coaching prompt, not a score to obsess over. Sit with the client, look at the missing keywords, and ask: have they actually done this work? If yes, put it in a bullet. If no, do not stuff the term into a skills list.

The goal is not more software. It is fewer lost applications and cleaner conversations in your next session.
